Is it possible to make a written control description match the map symbol?
I'd like to make IOF 5.2 track/path to be written as either path, or track, or even indistinct path.

Yes, you can use textual control descriptions. This is an option you can set for each course or class.

When you have the course layout on the screen, select the control description by clicking inside the control description framework, then use the right click menu item "Properties". A properties window now appears. In this window, check the box "Print as text", and click OK.

The textual control description is made up by concatenating the symbol titles for the symbols that define the control. This may not always turn out very pretty, but for most cases suits the purpose.

It is possible to change the symbol titles by using the Symbols menu. The Symbols menu appears only when you close all event files. By using Open Symbol, you can change the title of the symbol, and even the graphics. The latter is of course not recommended :-)
